The colour project. Apricot

Ik heb een fascinatie voor vrouwen die hun haar in een knal kleur durven te verven. Daarom ben ik de haren gaan fotograferen en zo is mijn colour project ontstaan. De bijzondere haar kleur link ik aan een plant in mijn tuin.

Apricot.

Opeens loopt ze voor me in de Kalverstraat (Amsterdam) Haar abrikooskleurige haar draagt ze op een staart. Ik spreek haar aan; wat blijkt ? Het is een Nederlandse vrouw. De eerste die ik vind voor mijn project. Natuurlijk wil ze poseren. "Zal ik het haar even los doen?" Voordat ik iets kan zeggen trekt ze het elastiek los. Ik maak een foto en vraag waarom ze voor deze kleur heeft gekozen. Ze antwoordt me: "Ik heb alle kleuren al gehad". Geroutineerd doet ze het haar weer in een staart, wenst me succes met mijn project en verdwijnt in de menigte. Na zo'n ontmoeting blijf ik altijd een beetje verbijsterd achter.

Abrikoos kleur, ik denk meteen aan mijn nieuwe roos 'Boscobel'. Het is een David Austin roos die ik verleden jaar heb geplant. De doorbloeiende roos doet het heel goed en geeft  veel bloemen. Maar ook de abrikoos kleurige Dahlia 'Jowey Linda' komt in aanmerking. The perfect match!

Missie gelaagd. Abrikoos kleurig haar, de roos 'Boscobel' en Dahlia ‘Jowey Linda. 

Volgende maand een andere vrouw met een andere haarkleur. Met dank aan deze Hollandse vrouw.

I have a fascination for women who dye their hair in a bright colour. So I started photographing this coloured hair and started my colour project, meaning that I link the particular hair colour with a plant in my garden. This time:

Apricot.

Suddenly she is walking in front of me in the Kalverstraat. (Amsterdam). She wears her apricot-coloured hair in a ponytail. When I approach her she turns out to be a Dutch woman. The first one! Of course she wants to pose. "Should I take out my hair tie for a moment?" Before I can reply she pulls off the hair tie. I take a picture and ask her why she chose this particular colour. She answers: "I already have had all the other colours". Routinely she puts her hair back into a ponytail again, wishes me success with my project and disappears into the crowd. Leaving me in confusion.

Apricot, I immediately think of my new rose 'Boscobel'. It is a David Austin rose that I have planted last year. The rose thrives and gives a lot of flowers. But also eligible  is the apricot-coloured Dahlia 'Jowey Linda'. A perfect match!

Mission accomplished. Apricot coloured hair, the rose 'Boscobel' and Dahlia 'Jowey Linda’.

Next month another woman with a different hair colour. Thanks to this Dutch woman.
