The colour project. Lavender blue.

Ik heb een fascinatie voor vrouwen die hun haar in een knal kleur durven te verven. Ik ben deze gekleurde haren gaan fotograferen. De bijzondere haar kleur link ik aan een plant in mijn tuin. Zo is het colour project ontstaan.

Lavender

Je weet nooit waar je een vrouw vindt met een bijzondere haar kleur. De tweede vrouw voor mijn serie tref ik op de verjaardag van mijn broer! Het is mijn nicht H. Ze verontschuldigd zich, dat de kleur er na drie weken al een beetje uit is. Ze stuurt meteen een foto van haar haar toen ze net van de kapper kwam. Een waterval van lang lavendel blauw haar. Ik vraag haar waarom ze voor deze kleur heeft gekozen. “Gezien op Internet” zegt ze.” Ik had zin iets leuks/geks”.

Aan mij de taak  om een plant in mijn tuin te vinden in deze lavendel blauwe kleur. Dat is dit keer niet moeilijk. De plant voor het colour project van deze week is Geranium pratense ‘Mrs Kendall Clark’. Het is mijn favoriete geranium. De kleur past bij alle bloemen in mijn tuin. Deze geranium bloeit in juni en zaait zichzelf daarna royaal uit. Het is tevens een prima bloem voor in de vaas.

Maar ook  Delphinium ‘Gletscherwasser’ komt in aanmerking deze week. Delphinium ‘Gletscherwasser’ is veel moeilijker. Zo’n hoge plant moet gesteund worden anders waait hij om. Aan het begin van het groeiseizoen moet je opletten dat de slakken de plant niet opeten. Anders is deze beauty snel verdwenen. Twee planten voor the perfect match!

Lavendelblauw haar en de lavendel blauwe bloemen van Geranium pratense  ‘Mrs Kendall Clark’ en de Delphinium ‘Gletscherwasser’! Missie geslaagd.

As I have mentioned before I have a fascination for women who dye their hair in a bright colour. So I started photographing this coloured hair and started my colour project, meaning that I link the particular hair colour with a plant in my garden. This time:

Lavender blue.

You never can tell where you will meet a woman with a special hair colour. The second woman for my series I meet at my brother's birthday! It is my niece H. She apologizes, because after three weeks the colour has already faded a little. She immediately sends me a picture, which was made the moment she left the hairdresser. Wow, long gorgeous lavender blue hair. I ask her why she chose this colour. "I have seen it on the Internet," she says, "I wanted something fun / crazy".

It is up to me to find a plant in this lavender colour. That is not difficult at all. The plant I choose for this week colour project is Geranium pratense 'Mrs Kendall Clark'. It is one of my favourite plants. The lavender blue colour of this geranium matches all the flowers in my garden. 'Mrs Kendall Clark' blooms in June and generously germinates afterwards.

But there is more. Delphinium 'Gletscherwasser' is also eligible. This plant is much more difficult to keep. A tall plant like this must be supported, otherwise it will fall over. Note: at the beginning of the growing season snails like to eat the plant. Pay attention, otherwise this beauty will quickly disappear! Two plants, two perfect matches!

Mission accomplished. Lavender blue hair and the lavender blue flowers of Geranium pratense 'Mrs Kendall Clark' and the Delphinium 'Gletscherwasser'.
